We have many active groups available that welcome new members:
Other Life Groups:
Sunday School Classes:
- SUNSHINE CLASS: The Sunshine Class actively supports many missions important to our congregation and community. There are no age guidelines for our class, which uses the Cokesbury Adult Bible Studies series. We also have a variety of service and fellowship activities outside the classroom. Come join us as we learn how to become better Christians. Contact person: Phil Small.
- TGIF: TGIF stands for “Together, Growing In Friendship”. Our class consists of men and women, ages 35 & up who share mutual concerns. Our studies vary with direction towards how our faith helps us to deal with life concerns. We welcome new members and visitors. Contact persons: Randy & Theresa Camp or Jean Cantrell.
- WHATEVER’S: A class for those who are “20-40 Something-ish”! The class meets in the Church Library for lively discussion.
SENIOR CONNECTION: Senior Connection exists to bring people together. We meet the first Friday of each month. All are welcome. We meet in the Fellowship Hall at 12:30 p.m. for a carry-in luncheon. Coffee and drinks are ready at noon. Occasionally there is a program. Contact Jerry Hochstetler if you want to know more or if you need a ride.
PIECEMAKERS: Our group meets every Thursday at 1:00 pm for laughter and sewing. We make prayer quilts that are given to UMT members. Recipients need only to be wrapped in prayers and covered with love by their church family. Our newest ministry is Baptism quilts. These are given to anyone baptized in our church. Anyone is welcome to come and create with us on Thursdays. Contact Theresa Camp.
WORSHIP MINISTRIES: The worship ministries of the UM Temple provide an excellent opportunity for you to be involved in the worship services in many ways.
USHERS: Each week during our worship services we need approximately six ushers serving. Ushers are scheduled to minister on a monthly rotational basis. We have ample opportunity for many to be involved.
LITURGIST: The reading of liturgy during our first service is a great opportunity to assist in worship.
GREETERS: Our greeters are a welcoming facet of the UM Temple, always eager to invite and welcome you into worship for each service. Your participation is always welcomed and needed.
ACOLYTES: The acolyte ministry helps usher the light of God into our worship service. The opportunity to serve in this ministry is endless for all ages. To assist in worship contact the church office.
PRAYER CHAIN: The UM Temple family share our prayer concerns, joys, and ministry events through an email prayer chain. By appropriate responses, we support each other in prayer and expressions of Christian love. Send your prayer requests to email@example.com or call 812-299-1898.
VAN MINISTRY: The van ministry provides an opportunity for anyone to serve as a driver to assist those who need a ride to come to a worship service. To become a part of this ministry, contact Phil Small.
AUDIO/VISUAL MINISTRY: The audio/visual ministry assists worship through the balancing of the sound in the services and bringing us into the innovative visual worship with the assistance of the scripture and lyrics on the overhead screen. If you are a person who enjoys using technology, this is the ministry for you. Contact person: Pastor Kevin.
MEMBERSHIP CARE MINISTRIES: The Membership Care ministry reaches a vast area of the church. We consolidate welcome bags for newcomers, send greeting cards to the members of the UM Temple, visit shut-ins and more. New members are always welcome to join our group.
KID’S HOPE USA: One hour, One child, One church, One school. This mentoring ministry has touched over 150 lives in the 7 years of its service to the Farrington Grove Elementary School. We can never have too many mentors. Join today and make a difference in the life of a child. Contact person: Jill Kuckewich.
EMMAUS REUNION: This group of those who have completed a Walk to Emmaus gets together every other Sunday afternoon at 4:00 pm to minister to and support each other in their faith journey. Contact person: Kevin Drane.
