Last week, I commented to my Dad, “there’s nothing better than a juicy, ripe tomato just picked from the garden.” Being raised in Indiana, he echoed the sentiment and added that just about anything that is picked ripe off the vine is delicious.
We have been blessed by the abundance of garden pickings this month. Tomatoes, green peppers, cucumbers, zucchini, and sweet corn have been shared with various ministries in the area as well as given away to vegetable lovers such as Dan and me. The abundance of produce grown from our garden off the church’s parking lot as well as the garden at the Outpost has been amazing.
God has certainly blessed the efforts of the gardeners who tenaciously tend the land, pick the weeds, harvest the abundance, and share it with others. God has certainly blessed efforts of the faithful servants here.
Our God is the God of Abundance! From his very heart is that of abundant love given freely. All for the taking, like the vegetables that show up around here after a picking. Through us, God gives and we certainly have been blessed with hogs (and butchering), sweet corn, baked beans, dessert that provided us with food for the Sweet Corn and Pork Chop Dinner last month. God provided abundance through many of you who gave to help our five families from Hoosier Prairie Elementary with supplies and a clothing shopping spree to get them ready for school in a few weeks.
God has blessed us with sweet fellowship with our brothers and sisters from Hope of Israel Ministries and International United Methodist Temple for our 5th Sunday Worship Service on July 29th. It is always good when we come together to worship each week, but an extra special blessing when we join together as one to make a joyful noise to the Lord, with thanksgiving in our hearts and praise on our lips.
I look forward to seeing you in worship … and in serving with you.
God is good. All the time!
